69 CHEVY 396 4 BOLT MAIN 3955272 ENGINE SHORT BLOCK CRANK H288 JH CODE L78 NOVA

Description

You are looking at a 69 dated 396 L78 Chevy 4 bolt main short block from a Nova. Block is cast # 3955272 and cast date H288 which is Aug 28, 1968 for the 69 model year. This block is correct for all 69 375 HP Camaro Chevelle and Nova. This casting was also used in a 2 bolt main version for the 325 & 350 HP. The suffix code is JH which is 69 Nova L78 375 HP / manual trans. The block is .030 over. The bores look good will very slight ridge. To be safe, plan on boring it to .060. There are 2 heli-o-coils in the front were the water pump bolts up. These look to be good repairs. No other heli-o-coils or repairs. The 6223 steel crank is STD/STD but should be cut .010/.010. This block has been tanked, magnafluxed and shot peened. It checks out good and I guarantee this to be a good, usable block. The crank was also magged and is crack free. The pistons look rough. Seven rods are dimple rods. One is not. You get everything you see pictured. These blocks are not growing on trees anymore. If this is the date and # you need for your restoration, do not let it get away.
